Screen Education Edinburgh is a film education, production, training and low cost facility hire organisation. Developing young people, new talent, communities and independent filmmakers, the key programmes are - Cashback for Creativity – A high quality learning experience covering short film watching, understanding and production, with the priority of engaging young people in areas of deprivation and those from excluded or minority groups across Edinburgh and South East Scotland. The programme has three levels, initial tasters partnering schools, youth org’s and communities, a Film Intro stage introducing young people over 8 weeks to all areas of film, and for progressing learners a Next Steps programme of projects taking place over 4 months. With progression support towards further education and the workplace at the heart of the projects for young people for post 16 participants. Arts Award qualification is embedded into each stage of the programme, with SEE Scotland's first Arts Award Centre for film. BFI Film Academy – An advanced programme for young people aged 16-19. Young people undergo intensive development in film understanding and watching, screenwriting, production, cinematography, sound recording, directing, acting and editing, with the addition of Industry master classes and progression support towards education and the workplace. SEE delivers three Academies in Scotland, Network programmes in Edinburgh & South East Scotland and the Scottish Highlands, and the BFI Film Academy Scotland Craft Residential. BFISkillset NCFE Preparing to Work in the Film Industry qualification is embedded into all of our programmes. Partnerships with schools, youth work and voluntary sector – One-off or ongoing targeted projects developing young people through the medium of film, often addressing social, employability or offending issues. Recent major partners are BBC Learning, CH4, Princes Trust, Barnardo’s and Scottish Prison Service.
